For years when people have found out that I draw, they’ve asked me the same question that this lady asked Audrey…”Are you a good artist?” This has been the case for me as both a kid, and as an adult. When I was a kid, it always caught me off guard, as I did not know what to say. If I leaned more towards the answer of “no” or “I don’t know”–I found that people almost aggressively told me to work on my confidence. And, if I said “yes” I found that those people would usually end up somehow critiquing my work pretty firmly. “Yeah it looks good, but you need to work on this or that.” I didn’t disagree with what the people said to me,  whether my answer was yes or no. But I found it much easier to answer with, “Art is subjective, and I just enjoy doing it, is all.” 🙂
